I dread it! I did not know about this 17 year cycle with the cicadas. I remember a bad summer several years back, but it wasn't 17 years! A certain amount of the noisy creatures is expected but I hate it when they are so loud you have to yell to make yourself heard out of doors.

The 17-year variety aren't ones we usually have around here. Those are the really creepy ones with black bodies and red eyes. I love to listen to them in the summer. It makes me remember the great summers when I was a kid. They do creep me out a little when I have to rescue them from the pool.
I had to collect one for biology in Jr. High and the sucker just wouldn't die!!
that's a relief! I like them in the summer too, but there was one year that they were SO loud! I couldn't be outside and talk to anyone without yelling...that I didn't like.
